Special Message!
Hello everyone! I have been anxious to get back to bringing you recipes and tips, but today as It may be best to jump in and share some tips which can help planning during the times we may be facing.
Many of us are shopping for items which we think may be essential to staying in during extended periods of time. What do you need, what is the best storage method.
Your homeboy's advice. Planning now will be essential. Plan for smaller meals because storage will become a premium, especially if you or your family are not into finishing off leftovers. You do not want to waste to much during this time.
More fresh items can be frozen than you think. So make sure to get freezer ziplock bags. Bags lie flat and require less space in the freezer than a solid container.
Your refrigerator is actually a dehydrator. Make sure items are sealed well before stored. I recently had a conversation with a friend about eggs. I suggest keep some fresh as they will last a while in the fridge, but also hard boil some and keep them in the fridge too. But here is the trick. Keep the boiled eggs in a sealed container, because egg shell is porous and the refrigerator will dehydrate them if not kept in a sealed container.
Veggies like fresh squash, zucchini, mushroom, onion, potato can be frozen. I suggest slicing them into disk shape (or diced), laying them on a cookie sheet and place into the freezer. Once frozen, seal in ziplock bags, based on portions and keep frozen until you are ready to cook.
I hope this helps. If you have any other questions. Find me here.
